Adam and Eve: The effect is still here today!
Most of us are aware of the writings in the Bible about Adam and Eve. We know that Adam sinned when he ate the fruit from the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. Does that have anything to do with us and the way this world is today? Surely something that happened 6,000 years ago can’t have any bearing on the world today, can it? The truth of the matter is, YES it does, what happened years ago does have its meaning or shall we say, It’s effect on our current modern world. Let’s get into the Word of God and see what happened a long time ago and see how it is affecting us today.
In Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” This verse tells about the creation of Adam, (As always, Please get out your Bible and read all of the verses that’s involved with our subject), now skipping down to verse 15 of Chapter 2, “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Verse 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden though mayest freely eat. Verse 17, But, of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, though shalt not eat of it: for in the day that though eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Now all this happened before Eve was created from Adam’s rib, and on a side note, Adam had a choice to eat of any other tree freely and not be penalized for his action. That did include the Tree of Life, and Adam’s choice was of course as we all know the wrong decision.
Let’s now move forward to after Eve was created and her temptation with the Devil in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said (Satan) unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Here Satan starts to twist the scriptures of God at the start of creation. Remember God said, You may eat of every tree, but the Tree of knowledge of good and evil, and here Satan says , “did God say you shall not eat of every tree”, doesn’t that little twist sound like God is keeping something from her?
In verses 2 and 3 Eve is explaining to Satan what God had said, and if you read closely, she adds “neither shall you touch it.” Now verse 4 “And the serpent (Satan) said unto the woman, you shall not surely die: vs. 5, is the first lie in the Bible, For God doth know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Now in Verses 6 and 7 we see the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, (gluttony), and that it was pleasant to the eyes, (Lust), and a tree to be desired to make one wise, (vanity), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Little side note here, do you see that Adam was by her side all the time Satan was talking too her? Why didn’t he stand up and quote what God said to do?
After the sin happened let’s move ahead to verse 16 and see the consequences of the sin in the Garden.
Vs. 16 “Unto the woman God said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception: in sorrow you shalt bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
Now let’s see what God said to Adam, vs. 17, and unto Adam he said, Because you have hearkened unto the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you. Saying, You shalt not eat of it cursed is the ground for your sake, in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of thy life; vs. 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shalt eat the herb of the fields;’ vs. 19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it was you taken; for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return.”
Remember in verse 15 in Chapter 2, God told Adam to eat all he wanted too except for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and also, to dress and keep the Garden. That sounds like a pretty good set up if you ask me, now look at what they have to live through. Not a good situation at all. Now look around you, aren’t the conditions of life they were now living through the same conditions we are living today? They are, life is short and life is tough for all of us at some point in time. Oh yes, don’t get me wrong here, life at times are great, but we all know that at some time we all are going to die. And ohhhh do we hope for something that will save us from this short and insecure life, or some may think, “Is this life all there is?”
God promises in His Word that there is more, there is a Savior for the world, His name is Jesus Christ.
But my point of this article is too tell you that the curse God made 6,000 years ago because of Adams sin, is still in effect until the 2nd coming of Christ. I here so many people, Politicians, the clergy, dictators, you name it, we are going to make this world a better place to live. If we can only get people to Christ, to Mohammad, Buddha, Again, you name it, in whatever the God that you worship. Have you read the Book of Revelation lately? Man’s condition is going to become so bad that God will have to send His Son back to this Earth to Save it. If Jesus Christ is not the God of your choice I’m sorry, but He is the True God of this World, He is the Creator of this World and as it states in John 3:17”For God sent NOT his Son into the world to condemn the world; BUT THAT THE WORLD THROUGH HIM (Jesus Christ), MIGHT BE SAVED”.
In Christianity anyway, it seems that most of the Preachers today speak of is, “Go out and bring people to Christ while there is still time. It seems to me it’s like a big contest of how many can be saved before Christ returns, and we just all go to heaven and let this world go to Hell. What did the Apostles teach the members of the Church about how to live and what to do? Let’s look at a few scriptures and see, Ephesians 5:1-5 “Be you followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes a saint; neither filthiness, not foolish talking, not jesting, which are not convenient but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.” No big soul saving contest going on here with the Ephesian Church, just being taught how to live in a crooked generation as Paul states in Philippians 2:15. “That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”
Being a light to our community is one way of being a Christian in today’s world, and overcoming the self. As it states in Ephesians, working on yourself to be a better person in this life. Overcome our bad habits, being loving, forgiving, polite, and generous, let’s look at the Fruit of the Spirit in a Christian’s life. Galatian 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peach, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Self-restraint is all over in the New Testament, no, we can’t get salvation through works, but we must strive to become better people as we grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior, 2 Peter 3:18.. I believe Satan has a lot of the churches that call themselves Christian, running all over the place, offending their neighbors and whoever else they run into, to try and bring them to Christ when scripturally they should be working on themselves and being lights. Jesus Christ has already died; He paid the price for mankind to be saved. He doesn’t need to have a contest in soul winning, he would rather have us becoming more like Him in this life and let Him handle the soul saving. That was and is His job not ours. Why you may ask? I will show you what the Bible teaches, Paul speaking here to Corinthian Church, “For you see your CALLING, (again, read the article “Are You Being Called”) brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, ARE CALLED. But God has CHOSEN the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and thing which are despised, has God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are; NOW HERE IS WHY. Verse 29, “THAT NO FLESH SHOULD GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE.” I hope I am making this clear, if dedicated Christians run around saving everyone around them, when they come to God’s Throne how many would say,” Look at all that I accomplished in bringing people to Christ” notice what the scripture JUST QUOTED said over and over, God has chosen, God has chosen the weak, God has chosen, God does it all folks, He doesn’t need us, but WE need Jesus Christ. I hope this scripture helps you to understand, this is the Sermon on the Mount given by Jesus himself, “Mathew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’ clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” Verse 21-23, “Not everyone that says unto me, (Jesus speaking here), Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have cast out devils? And in your name done many wonderful works? Do You see here, “WE DID THIS, WE DID THAT, and Jesus’s response to them, verse 23, “And then will I profess unto them. I never knew you depart from me, you that work iniquity.” That’s Jesus talking here. Remember the above scripture, “That No Flesh should Glory”. Christ lived and died to save this world and He alone will save them. Let’s all of us Christians work on ourselves, as the Bible teaches, and that is a lifelong process, be a light to our community and leave the saving of the world to Its Savior, the One and the Only Jesus Christ.
I have one more set of scripture I want to quote and I hope you grasp what it is saying, this is the Resurrection Chapter, 1 Corinthian’s 15:21 “For since by man came death, (Adam), by man came also the resurrection of the dead. Vs. 22 For as in Adam all DIE, even so in Christ shall ALL be make alive. Vs. 23, But every man in his own order, (do you see a plan being worked out here? God is NOT trying to save the whole world at this time, there is no contest to save as many souls as possible before the end), Christ (He is the 1st to be Resurrected) the first fruits; (then the Church in the Church Age), afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. (During the 1000 year Kingdom Age). Vs. 24 Then comes the end, when He (Christ) shall have delivered up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. Vs. 25 For He (Christ) must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. Vs.2 6 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is DEATH. (Due to Adam’s sin).”
Now in verse 45 of Corinthian’s 15,” And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
So as you can see, since the 1st Adam this world just keeps on turning, is still under the sway of Satan the Devil, and will be at its completion at the 2nd coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And when Jesus comes the world will at last be at peace for a 1000 years. How wonderful is that? Thank God for His wonderful Plan for saving all of mankind.
